See What Happened To Governor Who Falls Into River While Commissioning Newly Built Bridge

What happened in Ogembo,a small farming town in Kenya yesterday was a disaster which almost claimed the life of a governor.

The people of Ogembo were shocked as the governor of Machakos County Alfred Mutua, two journalists and some government officials plunged into a river as they were standing on a newly constructed footbridge the governor came to declare open yesterday Friday.

According to The Star report, governor Alfred Mutua almost got drowned in the river before he was rescued and taken to hospital in Kisii County in an ambulance.

He plunged into the river when the bridge he came to declare open collapsed while he was taking selfie.

But wait, did the constructor of the bridge not test and certify the bridge before he said he had complete his job? Did he not walk and run through it to be sure the bridge was strong and safe to be used?

We can't say for sure how the bridge which was said to have been firmly constructed and ready to be declared open by the governor of County collapsed just the moment the governor and his entourage walked in to declare it open!

Yes,not only did the governor get shaken,he fell into the river uncontrollably.

Thanks to goodness however. The governor took it in good fate and his head and that of other victims were not taken by the incidence. They all came out safe.

Below was the governor's remark after the incidence:

“I have been baptised by River Gucha and now I must build a house in Gucha,” Reported by radio citizen.

“The bridge caved in after a crowd of those who accompanied us joined us.''

The collapsed bridge was constructed by the ministry of public works as part of the Economic Stimulus project under the constituency of  development fund.
