Kanye West says mental illness caused him to say slavery was a choice for blacks

On 3rd of May 2018,Kanye West stated on Big Boy at TMZ show that African slavery was by choice of Africans to do so.

He got blasted by lots of people who strongly disagree with him and yes so many people like Kanye's friends were shocked that Kanye could say a thing such as that:

"That statement was one of the most ignorant statements that anybody that came from the 'hood could ever say about their ancestors, that slavery is a choice. What are you talking about?"

Then he added:

 "That's not Kanye.

In a defence to African slaves that slavery wasn't their choice, some big voices such as Lamont Hill reacted saying:

''There has never been a moment in history when black people don't resist slavery. Some did it by jumping off  ships. Some killed masters. Some ran way. Some did it through everyday forms of resistance. Slave masters didn't retire. Our resistance led to our freedom!''

Spike Lee also says in reaction:

'"SLAVERY...A CHOICE"??? My Brother, OUR Ancestors Did Not Choose To Be Stolen From Mother Africa. Our ancestors did not choose to be ripped of our religion, culture, language. Our ancestors did not choose to be murdered, lynched, castrated, raped and burnt at the stake, families to be sold apart. Where is this brother of mine next to me called Kanye??? I would not be surprised if our ancestors are not happy with your uneducated comment. P.S. your reaction does not undo the harm you caused our beloved ancestors. Please wake up!

Finally Kanye West in reacting for the first time after he's gotten some blow reactions from says that he wasn't speaking in his right senses. He blames his statement on his mental illness:

“I’m so blessed and so privileged because think about people that have mental issues that are not Kanye West, that can’t go and make that [album] and make you feel like it’s all good. Think about someone who does exactly what I did at TMZ and they just do that at work. On Tuesday morning, they come in and they just lost their job. And they can’t go back and do that…That’s why God put that on me at 40…I’ve never been diagnosed and I was like 39 years old…It’s not a disability, it’s a superpower.”
