What Is Wrong With Men Holding Doors For Women? This Is Chimamanda Adichie's View!

Chimamanda Adichie

In hotels and restaurants,in public places and in private homes, porters, drivers security men and kind hearted people hold doors for their clients and people they serve with honor.

That is how most people in the whole wide world see the act of holding doors for people including women, but the author,Chimamanda Adichie has a different view point.

She believes that when men hold doors for women,it is showing that women are weak and so the only way men can give support is by holding for them doors open. Chimamanda! Some times I fear the way you reason. It looks spiritual!

If men hold doors for women because they sense women are weak or weaker than men, would they also hold the same doors for men? Definitely no!

But Chimamanda Adichie sees in a very different direction:

''I think just like holding the door shouldn't be gender because we should open the door for every one. I hold the door for men and women. I think the idea of sort of holding the door for a woman because she is a woman, I have trouble with, I'm quite happy for people to hold the door for me i hope they are not doing for the sort of idea of  chivalry because chivalry is the  idea of women are somehow weak and need protecting but we know that there many women who are stronger than men,".

Does this make any sense or meaning to you??

Chimamanda also has other issue. Giving women and children preference in times of distress rather than the weak and unwell.

 She says:

Which is also why I have issues with women and children when women are classified...when there is a tragedy and we say women and children should live first. I think actually it is the people who are weak and unwell who should leave first.

Madam Chimamanda,is this another side of feminism???
