the brief history of valentine

On the 14th day of February of every year, people all around the world commemorate and celebrate valentine.  Valentine, has recently become a popular celebration which all and sundry partakes in, no matter the religion. Am yet to see any religion which worship does not accommodate valentine celebration. Is valentine celebration for everyone? What is the history of valentine? Here is the brief history of valentine you should know:

According to The World Book Encyclopedia,Valentine's Day comes on the feast day of two different Christian Martyrs named Valentine. But customs connected with the day...probably come from an ancient Roman festival called Lupercalia which took place every February 15. The festival honored Juno the Roman goddess of women and marriage, and pan,the god of nature.-(1973),vol.20,p.204.

Did you notice that people who began the celebration of Valentine did so on every February 15? Why then is the shift of date from February 15 to February 14?  Is there any world feast day on February 14? Since the ancient Romans celebrated Valentine in honor of their goddess,Juno, are those celebrating Valentine today also doing the same?
In our next article,we shall look at Valentine as it is today in the topic: Valentine in the past, valentine today. Please join us!!!
